We know that the Staff Selection Commission has released the OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION for the COMBINED GRADUATE LEVEL EXAMINATION, 2018 on 5th May 2018. There is no major change in the overall structure of the examination, except this time normalization has also been introduced. Hence, as a candidate if you are looking to excel, you must understand and realize that the time has come to fasten your seat belts and to begin your adventurous journey to the best government jobs in India.
Scheduled to take place from 25th July 2018 to 20th August 2018, the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam has 4 sections as per the latest pattern, with a total of 100 questions of 200 marks. The time allotted to solve these 100 questions is only 60 minutes.
If calculated on this basis, every candidate gets 36 seconds per question, but this time is reduced as one takes time to read and switch between questions. Take a maximum of 15 minutes out of the total time for these ,and you are left with 45 minutes to attempt 100 questions. Thus, this can be inferred that a candidate has approximately around 0.45 minutes or 27 seconds to understand and solve a particular question in Tier 1.
This may have startled you a bit, but you need not worry at all as you can overcome this hurdle easily but you only need to keep these few things in mind.
- One cannot know everything so understand that you do not have to attempt all the questions to qualify in Tier 1.
- There are no sectional time limitsin Tier 1 which allows you to allocate your time easily and focus on your strong areas.
- It is believed that work well managed is half work done, so manage your time well and start practicing with mock tests from Day 1.
- Wrong answers carry a penalty of 0.5 marks, so one must not lose marks on questions that he/she is unsure of as it results not only in loss of marks, but also for time.
Seems easy, right?
We also believe that it’s easy for you and you can do it.
Hard work, focus and practice are the only mantras that you need to follow now , no matter whatever happens. Here is a table that illustrates the exam pattern of SSC CGL 2018 Tier 1 Exam.
SSC CGL 2018 Examination Pattern
|25||50||60 minutes (Total)|
Note: There will be negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer in the Tier I exam.
The overall pattern is easy, the syllabus is easy and even the questions are easy, so the only thing that seems difficult for the Common Graduate Level 2018 Tier I Examination is the competition that you will face from the other candidates once the cutoffs are out.
In simpler words, there’s nothing to worry till the results so give it your all and rest everything will fall in place itself.
Keep faith in yourself.
All the Best !
